BBC News - The History

The British Broadcasting Corporation, more commonly known as the "BBC", is the longest and largest running broadcaster in the world, providing services to BBC radio as well as television channels such as the BBC News, BBC Parliament and BBC World News.

BBC News is also making increasing efforts to keep up with advances in technology and have begun introducing mobile services to mobile phones and PDAs. Desktop news alerts, e-mail alerts, and digital TV alerts are also becoming ever more availiable to BBC fans.

Ratings figures show that during national crises such as the 7 July 2005 London bombings or a royal funeral, the majority of the UK audience turns to the BBC's coverage as opposed to its fellow rivals such as ITV News or Channel 4.

Which is a testimony to the detailed coverage of stories that the BBC provides.
